Harmony Engine is a vocal and instrument harmony generator from Antares, the maker of Auto-Tune. The software features four harmony voices with adjustable vocal character, vibrato, and pan settings for realistic or creative effects. Also available are 5 channels of Choir vocal multiplier. It lets you turn each harmony voice into 2, 4, 8, or 16 individual unison voices for a thicker, wider sound.

The plug-in can have you craft your own vocal arrangement note-by-note, perform harmonies with a MIDI controller, or choose the desired chords and let the software do the rest. Harmony engine is also compatible with the Antares Auto-Key plug-in which automatically detects the key and scale of your music and sends them to Harmony Engine.

Harmony Engine benefits from Antares’ Voice Processing tech for faster and accurate pitch detection along with smoother, artifact-free pitch shifting. Further along, the developer’s Throat Modeling technology lets you process each harmony voice through a physical model of the human vocal tract for further realism. Other functionality includes Fixed or Scale Intervals, Chord Degrees, Chord Name, Chord by MIDI, humanize parameters which generate harmony variations for a more natural sound. Also present are a Freeze (instantly freeze pitch and/or formant articulation), Harmony and Voice Parameter Preset Matrixes, multi-channel output, and more.

All in all, Harmony Engine is a superb alternative to the various editions of Melodyne or other prolific vocal harmonization software. Antares are still relevant in the field for a reason, and this product is an example why.
